The Light4Uganda Movement Spreads

It is a pleasure and joy to share this ripe mission opportunity with you.  We pray that this blog finds you well and enjoying the many blessings God has given you and may His blessings continue to flood your life.

Joining the LIGHT4UGANDA team will be a decision you will never regret.  This is an opportunity for you to come in at the grassroots level for building a seminary in Uganda.  This seminary aims to train, equip, and send ordained missionary leaders throughout the land and to also be a resource for training evangelists for the Lutheran Church Mission Uganda.

Here is the landscape God has been painting in Uganda:

The LCMU is presently 14 years old

There are 84 LCMU congregations in Uganda

There are presently 9 ordained pastors serving this territory (size of Oregon)

There are presently 4 men in Seminary either in Ghana, Kenya, or South Africa

There are presently 10 men on Vicarage

There are presently 19 commissioned evangelists

There are 6 Evangelism Training Centers for the purpose of spreading the Gospel throughout Uganda and this has been the primary source for planting new churches and missional outposts

Most of these churches are in rural areas.  The greatest challenge to the LCMU is to provide future ordained missionary leaders with the means to attend seminary in their own country.  The greatest majority of these men and evangelists (male/female) are unable to afford the traveling to and attending the seminaries in Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.  The few men that have been fortunate enough to go to seminary have to abandon their family for months at a time.  While this is not good for the family, it is also leaves a void leadership in their local church.

Our goal is simple.  It is our prayer that through LIGHT4UGANDA the LCMU will continue to make disciples and that the church will have missionary leaders in place to claim the harvest the Lord of the Church is bringing to this country.

$42,000.00 to purchase seminary land (25 acre plot of land near Lake Victoria)

$250,000 to build the necessary facilities for training missionary leaders

By God’s grace we have already received a $10,000 gift to put down on the land.  We originally hoped to raise the remaining $32,000 by Christmas 2010 and the Lord made it happen November 22nd – Goal 1 accomplished.  The remaining $250,000 will come through multiple churches and individuals who choose an option on the Goal 2 page.  One great joy in this effort is that 100% of your gift goes directly to this missional effort.

Blessings in Christ,

Tim Radkey, Director LIGHT4UGANDA
